It's evident that Vietnamese people who take traditional Vietnamese cuisine abroad often achieve great success, especially in countries with large Vietnamese communities. This presents a significant opportunity to open a restaurant that brings Vietnam's familiar and warm image to a distant land.
Moreover, the allure of traditional Vietnamese dishes, combined with a unique space that blends modern and traditional Vietnamese architecture, becomes a popular destination for foreigners. They can explore and enjoy Vietnamese cuisine in an authentically traditional space without traveling far.
Design Ideas: Modern Meets Traditional
The architects utilized materials and techniques from Hanoi's traditional craft villages. By incorporating bamboo, rattan, and recycled materials, the design not only respects traditional crafts but also meets modern aesthetic trends.
Warmth and familiarity permeate the restaurant space. The ceiling is adorned with partitions made of intricately woven reeds, combined with pendant lights to create a sparkling effect. This design not only brings a lively and inviting atmosphere but also encourages diners to explore the space and make their choice. It requires precise calculations and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring every corner is carefully crafted. Moreover, the architect must have a deep understanding of traditional architecture to offer the best advice and solutions, delivering a design that truly reflects the traditional style.
Interior Materials
The combination of traditional and modern architecture creates a peaceful space, clearly reflected in the restaurant's color scheme and interior design. Soft tones like light wood and brown are often used to create a comfortable and pleasant ambiance. Although not ostentatious or luxurious, traditional restaurant designs still win people's hearts and receive much praise from diners.
Velvet cushioned chairs are interspersed with arched door frames that have a modern touch. Wood, ceramic tiles, and metal are harmoniously combined with faux-ancient brick, resembling the iconic walls of old Vietnamese houses. The red brick walls create a nostalgic, sturdy, and naturally close atmosphere. Highlighting this are framed maps of Vietnam along with images introducing traditional Vietnamese culture.
The simple, undecorated wooden furniture adds to the cozy, warm, and gentle feel of the space. From wall partitions to bar counters, and tables and chairs, all are made of wood.
Interior Space
The bar counter and the walls within the bar area are decorated with tiles. Ceramic tiles, a characteristic of tradition, bring out the Vietnamese essence in this American restaurant, making the bar area stand out.
The restaurant space is thoughtfully designed, blending classical and modern elements, using various types of wood to create harmony and balance. The space is bright, airy, and clean, with cleverly arranged furniture. Potted plants are placed strategically, adding to the beauty and comfort for the diners.
The floors in the seating area are laid with simple gray tiles, and the wall at the back of the restaurant features images of dry bamboo trees lined up, reflecting the characteristics of Vietnamese villages. When customers step into the restaurant, they are immediately greeted by this prominent and iconic image.
Taking advantage of both natural and artificial light, large glass windows and hanging ceiling lights create a warm ambiance. The windows and doors are wide and convenient, without any obstructions, while partitions are used to create a spacious and open environment.
Decor
The decorations on the walls and patterns in the restaurant are kept simple. Wooden slats on the walls and partitions give a sense of the humble Vietnamese home of the past. The wide arched windows welcome in light, complemented by bamboo blinds that replace modern curtains. These natural bamboo blinds not only filter the light but also contribute to a cozy and authentic Vietnamese atmosphere, harmonizing with the interior while showcasing Vietnamese creativity.
