Inspired by the Southern land with its familiar culinary culture, the design of Phuong Nam Yen Lang restaurant is one of the standout projects of KenDesign. Following the success of the previous fifth establishment, we are honored to be entrusted by the investor once again for this sixth establishment. The Design Story - The Sixth Branch of Phuong Nam Restaurant
The Phuong Nam restaurant brand, inspired by an endless passion for the cuisine and culture of the Southern people, carries the mission of spreading a new culinary breeze to the people of Hanoi. This project marks the sixth establishment of the brand, following the success of the previous branches. The new appearance of Phuong Nam restaurant remains close to tradition but adds a touch of elegance.
Location and Layout
Located on Yen Lang Street, with a wide facade offering a view of the overpass, the sixth branch of Phuong Nam restaurant promises to be an ideal destination for lovers of Southern cuisine. Previously a spacious three-story net shop with a glass facade, the investor wanted to utilize unique details and infuse Southern inspiration into the design of Phuong Nam Yen Lang restaurant.
Design Concept - Inspired by the Southern Land
The total area of this project exceeds 400m² across three floors, ensuring a smooth design process and optimal functionality for the restaurant. The investor aims to expand the Phuong Nam restaurant system, with the hope that the brand will become a destination where customers can enjoy Southern cuisine and culture.
The dishes at Phuong Nam maintain the distinct flavor and identity of the South, a path the brand has followed without change for 12 years. The investor wants the sixth branch to pursue the motto “Do it well, do it thoroughly,” hence, despite 12 years in business, this expansion marks only the sixth establishment.
To recreate the atmosphere of the Western region and create a friendly feeling for customers, KenDesign thoroughly researched the characteristics of the Western water land to incorporate these elements into the design. For example, bamboo strips are used to decorate the ceiling, concealing electrical systems, and treated bamboo partitions are elegantly used at the entrance.
Unique Facade
Taking advantage of the wide facade, our architects created an impressive exterior design for Phuong Nam restaurant. Inspired by gothic-style arches, the facade features intertwining curves reminiscent of rice plants, with light structures honoring the play of light through its lines. The use of glass and creative elements helps make the restaurant’s facade more striking. Additionally, the outdoor area is designed with small landscapes to create a closer connection to nature.
Interior Design
From the moment you step into Phuong Nam restaurant, you are drawn in by a space that blends cultural roots with artistic value, elegantly arranged to create a cozy atmosphere. Soft lighting from decorative lamps reflects off traditional brick walls, creating a sense of peace and comfort. The interior is designed with warm tones, combining natural wood and high-quality materials to create a refined, traditional space.
The restaurant space is imbued with traditional, nostalgic styles. Floral ink paintings add to the architectural beauty, while brocade patterns on cushions and other small decorative details enhance the traditional atmosphere. Particularly, the stylized lighting made from bamboo adds to the rustic, traditional vibe.
Ground Floor
The ground floor space is scientifically arranged, with seating designed to meet customer needs. It includes both common dining areas and two VIP rooms for those seeking privacy. The design emphasizes interior elements inspired by Southern culture, reflected in the furniture and lighting. The signature teal color representing the brand is subtly integrated throughout the space. This time, we used effect paint to enhance the space's value, connecting different areas and creating a sophisticated, classical feel.
Second Floor
The second floor features an impressive bar area inspired by the traditional brick kilns of Vinh Liem, Vinh Long. This craft village is renowned for its long-standing ceramic and brick kilns, the largest of its kind in the Mekong Delta. Customers will encounter unique images reminiscent of this heritage in the Yen Lang branch of Phuong Nam.
Third Floor
The third floor offers more group seating, ideal for family gatherings, corporate events, or parties. There is also a stage for customers to enjoy traditional music while dining. The stage is professionally designed with a logo, modern wooden flooring, and lighting.
Private VIP Space
A traditional yet modern space caters to customers who need to entertain clients or guests in a formal setting. The design incorporates elements that evoke memories, using traditional Vietnamese decorations such as reliefs, statues, and conical hats. These elements contribute to creating a unique brand identity for the restaurant.
Final Impressions
Phuong Nam restaurant aims to offer a sense of familiarity and evoke forgotten memories. The design uses traditional Vietnamese decorations and intricate details to create a harmonious, aesthetically pleasing space. The architects also utilized unique floor patterns and tropical motifs to fill empty wall spaces, complemented by strategically placed greenery to enhance the dining experience.
