The café stands out with a design language that harmoniously merges Tropical freshness, Industrial strength, and refined Asian charm, creating a space that is both vibrant and soulful.
Project Overview
Nestled in the bustling center of Hai Phong a port city known for its cultural depth and dynamic lifestyle, King Coffee was conceived as a sanctuary for those seeking calm amidst the city’s energy. The owner envisioned a space that feels open and natural like the tropics, structured and robust like Industrial design, yet still warm and familiar through subtle Asian details. KenDesign brought this vision together through a seamless architectural dialogue between these three distinct styles.
Design Concept – The Art of Harmonious Fusion
Inspired by the Tropical Style
Tropical design is all about relaxation and connection with nature. At King Coffee, this inspiration comes alive through lush greenery spread across the interior and exterior, expansive glass panels welcoming daylight, and the soft sound of water from garden features. The result is a serene “mini-resort” ambiance right in the city center.
Strengthened by Industrial Character
While the Tropical theme sets the tone, Industrial design gives the space its bold personality. Exposed concrete ceilings, raw brick walls, steel frames, and metal lighting fixtures create a sense of honesty and durability. This balance between “soft and green” versus “raw and strong” defines King Coffee’s unique visual rhythm.
Subtle Asian Touches
To maintain its cultural authenticity, KenDesign introduced delicate Asian influences. Curved arches, traditional rooflines, and decorative wall motifs evoke a sense of familiarity and calm — connecting modern aesthetics with the timeless warmth of Vietnamese culture.
A Striking Facade
The three-story façade of King Coffee immediately draws attention. It features a sleek combination of light stone cladding, wooden louver panels, and a bright LED logo sign, ensuring strong brand visibility. A landscaped front yard with stone pathways and greenery invites customers in, creating an approachable and welcoming impression from the very first glance.
Interior – A Balance of Function and Aesthetics
Inside, the space unfolds into multiple seating zones catering to different moods from quiet corners for individuals to open areas for groups. Furniture crafted from warm wood paired with metal frames reinforces the Industrial tone while keeping a natural, cozy feel. The walls, clad in raw stone and adorned with scenic murals, add texture and depth. Every detail is thoughtfully arranged to enhance comfort and spatial harmony.
The Tropical Courtyard – The Heart of the Café
The central courtyard is the soul of King Coffee. Designed with a natural stone floor, a central planter, and soft ambient lighting, it provides guests with an oasis of calm. This area doubles as a signature “check-in spot,” where visitors can relax, take photos, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere reminiscent of a tropical resort nestled within an urban landscape.
Lighting and Color Palette
Natural light plays a key role throughout the design. The color scheme revolves around three tones:
- Wood brown – creating warmth and grounding the space.
- Beige white – expanding visual openness.
- Leafy green – breathing freshness and life into every corner.
This palette ensures that guests feel relaxed the moment they step inside where soft neutrals serve as the background, and greenery becomes the central visual melody.
